Some of the best points from any post are the comments that are made in response to the post. Sometimes when I comment on a blog, I like to know when someone else comments after me. To me, it’s like reading another part of the conversation. There is now a feature on Grin and Grumble [...]

Word Wise

I like words. Whenever I see the word “flautist” for example, I think of a professional farter. Flautist, flatulence. See what I mean? They sound alike. It’s even better when someone says it. Flautist. Cracks me up. What are some of your favorite words? They don’t have to be related to bathroom humor.
Twitter Me Dee

When I first tried Twitter, I wasn’t convinced of its value. After many months of using it and after reaching a milestone (I have over 100 “followers”–not many, but hey), I’m still not completely enamored with Twitter. For those who don’t know, Twitter is considered a micro-blogging application. Twitter asks the question “What are you [...]
I just kicked off a social network at my job. I used Ning and customized the network, which will be open only to staff members. The objective? To get people across the company to think more about marketing by using a fun, conversational medium. As I’ve perhaps mentioned before, I would say that I’m an [...]
You and ooVoo. My ooVoo. OoVoo who? OoVoo is a beta video conferencing tool whose key feature is its ability to host up to six people in a simultaneous chat. For some context, New York City-based ooVoo has contracted with marketing company Crayon to promote the product. Over the last several weeks, Crayon ran “My [...]
There was a time when, if I didn’t know something that I wanted to know about computers and the web, I’d learn it. This attitude served me well as I’ve had no formal education in computers or web design. Now, however, it seems I’m not as patient and I have less time to figure out [...]
Utter, Jott, Blog!
Posted in Tech on Dec 23rd, 2007
In my continual quest to find a way to update this blog on the go, I’ve tried using several applications. I tried to use Utterz to add audio to the blog. Yet, I couldn’t get Utterz and WordPress to play nicely. I must say that Utterz’s tech support was very committed to helping me out…they [...]
What is it with phones and voice mail? Think about your different phone systems. I have the work phone, the cell phone, and the home phone. All have different messaging systems. All have different key combinations to erase, skip, play again, save, etc. And a few have some partial crossover and that can help sometimes, [...]
In a previous post, Twitter was one of the things I didn’t get. Yesterday, I spent some time with Twitter and although we’re not great friends, I’d say we’re now acquaintances. I’m not yet the fan that Dave is, but I will say that playing with Twitter was fun. What is Twitter? My take on [...]
Hey, this Internet thing works

It’s not often I’m impressed with customer service. And, impressed with customer service from a cable company? Get real. An avid Tivo user, I found that Tivo could no longer switch channels on the cable box to record. For those who don’t use Tivo, this is a major feature that ceased to function. The Tivo [...]
